Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment. Future expenses should be taken into consideration. Annual costs for a cat or dog can average $700-$1000 per year for food, recurring medical, litter, toys, treats, license and misc (source: ASPCA). These DO NOT include adoption fee and initial expenses. Your new family member depends on you.
